The Happy Garden Crew

We are passionate about gardening and all that it entails. We REALLY hope you’ll trust us when we tell you that a garden can bring tremendous joy and happiness to your life. It’s true — even if you don’t like playing in the dirt, aren’t interested in reading up on companion planting and disease control, or simply don’t have the time to care for a garden.

Meet the Founder

Hello, I’m Emily and I’m so glad you found Happy Garden Place!

I’ve always loved the outdoors, whether that’s in my own backyard, camping in the woods, running down sandy dunes, or splashing in the waves of Lake Michigan. So when my husband and I moved into our first house over a decade ago, I knew I needed a thriving garden where I could fully immerse myself. The problem was that I didn’t know how or where to start, and the wealth of information available was a bit overwhelming. So I decided to learn by doing and just started planting! I learned so much in those early years and filled in the gaps by researching specific questions online or consulting gardening books.

As my garden grew, I realized I loved learning about and caring for all types of plants. I continued expanding my garden, trying new varieties and experimenting with techniques. My love for gardening only grew during the pandemic. Tending to and enjoying my garden became a therapeutic experience. While working from home and homeschooling our two young boys, I would frequently take breaks to recharge by visiting my garden.

It was on one of those days when I found my calling in the garden. Bees were buzzing. Butterflies danced from flower to flower. Floral scents wafted in the air. And suddenly a hummingbird flitted by just a few feet away! It was so beautiful and almost surreal but in that moment a sense of overwhelming peace and happiness coursed through my veins. That was the moment when Happy Garden Place was born. I knew I had to share my knowledge so everyone could experience the peace and joy that a garden brings.
