So, What is Germination?

Simply put, germination is the process that seeds go through to develop into a plant.

In order to germinate, all seeds require oxygen, water and proper temperature. When a seed is exposed to the proper conditions, the plant will begin to grow.

Requirements for seed germination?

  • Temperature - warmth (soil temp and air temp) speeds up and improves germination

  • Oxygen - releases energy that allows the embryo to germinate

  • Water - seeds absorb water and swell up, allowing the embryo to start growing

When each of the above requirements are met, the germination process will begin!
